Why not be a photographer?

My interest in photography started when I was in college. I took a photography class and learned about taking pictures and also how to develop them in a dark room. Now, look how things have changed with this digital world! I continued to take pictures of my family and nature and fun events. I invested in a nice camera and took my children's portraits. For years, I have said, "if I wasn't a teacher, I would be a photographer."

Hmmm....fast forward to my daughter's senior pictures. She allowed me to be the one to take them. They turned out beautifully. So, my thought was, "why don't I do this?" I mean, I can be a teacher and a photographer! From there, I picked up other senior portrait sessions and some family portraits, as well as newborn portraits. And, I absolutely love it! I did not inherit my mom's craftiness, but there is a creative side to me and this is an outlet for it.

This is the daughter that gave me a chance!

One thing that I had yet to tackle, but was afraid to, was weddings! So when given the opportunity to shoot a wedding recently, I jumped on it! Was I nervous? Of course! I did invest in a new camera. I opted for the Canon Mark IV. I knew it needed to be a Canon, as I had already invested too much money into lenses for a Canon. I can tell you this, this camera did not disappoint! I practiced and practiced before the wedding to make sure I was comfortable using it on this very important day. The day was a 0 degree day with bright sun, and yet, the pictures were amazing. With this wedding under my belt. I now have the confidence to do more and I couldn't be more excited! I have another one coming in September. I cannot wait!
